FAQ

Why does the Xiaomi router use 192.168.31.1 instead of 192.168.1.1?

Xiaomi chose 192.168.31.1 to avoid conflicts with ISP-supplied routers at 192.168.1.1. In many Chinese home setups, the ISP provides a router/modem at 192.168.1.1, and the Mi Router is connected downstream. Using 192.168.31.1 ensures both routers are on different subnets and accessible simultaneously.

Can I use the Xiaomi Mi Router outside China?

Yes. International versions of Mi Router are sold globally and work on standard Wi-Fi protocols. The admin interface is available in English on international firmware. The 192.168.31.1 address and miwifi.com hostname work the same regardless of region.
