Wi-Fi Password Generator

Create a strong, random password for your Wi-Fi network. A good Wi-Fi password is the single most important barrier between your network and unauthorised access.

What Makes a Strong Wi-Fi Password?

A good Wi-Fi password needs to be long enough that brute-force attacks take impractically long, and random enough that dictionary attacks fail. WPA2 and WPA3 support passwords up to 63 characters. Here is what actually matters:

  • At least 12 characters, 16 or more is significantly better
  • Mix of uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and symbols
  • No recognisable words, names, or patterns
  • Not related to your address, phone number, or birthdate
  • Different from every other password you use
  • Stored in a password manager, not written on a sticky note

WPA3 makes brute-force attacks significantly harder than WPA2. If your router supports WPA3, enable it in the wireless security settings — even a somewhat shorter password is much more resistant to offline cracking attempts.

How to Change Your Wi-Fi Password

  1. Log in to your router admin panel at http://192.168.1.1 (or your router IP).
  2. Navigate to Wireless or Wi-Fi settings. Look for Wireless Security or Security Mode.
  3. Make sure the security mode is set to WPA3 or WPA2-AES (not WEP or TKIP).
  4. Find the Password, Passphrase, or Network Key field and enter your new password.
  5. Save the settings. The router applies the change and all connected devices will need to reconnect with the new password.
